Taxi Meters
Note April, 2021: TAXIMETERS ARE IN A PERIOD OF FLUX BEGINNING IN 2020 WITH COVID-19 AND THE UBER/LYFT CHALLENGES. EARLY IN 2022 A RESURGEANCE OF TAXICABS WITH PROPER MARKINGS, METERS, INSURANCE AND TESTING HAS BEGUN. UBER AND LIFT ARE POSSIBLY EXPERIENCING LEGAL AND SOCIAL CHALLENGES, WITH FUTURE NOT SURE AS WE UNDERSTAND. MANY CHANGES ARE HERE OR ABOUT TO BE ANNOUNCED. PULSAR COMPANY HAS QUIT. SOME OF THEIR EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE, BUT FOR HOW LONG WE DO NOT KNOW. CENTRODYNE COMPANY IS EVOLVING EVIDENTLY, PRICES GOING UP, SOME SUPPORT DISCONTINUED, OTHER SUPPORT UNCHANGED. iELECTRON BRAND (excellent!) IS AVAILABLE AND CAN BE ORDERED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THERE ARE OR WERE OTHER BRANDS WE HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO HANDLE FOR VARIOUS REASONS OVER THE YEARS; THEIR STATUS IS UNKNOWN. OUR WEBSITE, TAXISOURCE.COM, AND FRED STOCK ELECTRONICS WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE BEST SUPPORT AND PRODUCT AVAILABILITY WE CAN WITHIN THESE DYNAMIC GUIDELINES. E-Mail me if you have questions about a product or service. fstock41041@gmail.com.
Taxi Meters have long been required for vehicles offering service by the mile or kilometer in the U.S.A. and often elsewhere. In the U.S.A.. They were required to be certified as “in compliance” with federal regulations. The federal agencies issue a “CoC number” (for Certificate of Compliance}. The meters with which we deal are listed here with their CoC Number: Pulsar 2030 and 2030R: 03-057A1, Pulsar 2020 and 2020R: 97-055A1, Centrodyne Silent 610 and Silent 620: 93-128A5, Centrodyne S700: 10-051. A Brand of Mobile Data Terminal which contains the option of use as a Taxi Meter is Mobile Knowledge Models 9008 and 9006, which carry CoC Number 07-096. A previous model Pulsar 2010 is now obsolete but still in use in some places. It last was assigned CoC number 90-133. Record Electronics (REI) CGII and CGIII 03-106A1, iElectron Model MT-10 15-051. Another Brand of Mobile Data Terminal which has been offered to American clients from Canada is Hi-Data, but to the best of our knowledge, it has never been approved for a CoC Number in U.S.A. Other brands and models are available but not handled at this time by Fred Stock Electronics – www.TaxiSource.com. Ring up for more info; fstock41041@gmail.com.
